Bioengineering Graduate Student Advisory Committee (BGSAC)

Charge
The role of the Bioengineering Graduate Student Advisory Committee (BGSAC) is to provide input to the Program Chair relating to the broad issues that affect graduate students in the Interdisciplinary Bioengineering Graduate Program as well as to matters that have the potential to enhance the interface between Program graduate students, Program faculty and administration. We also contribute to the Bioengineering Handbook. The committee operates under the BGSAC By-Laws. One member of the committee serves as chair for a period of one year. All members serve a two year term, in which four seats are vacated every year. The current members are as follows:

Activities:
- Liaison between Program graduate students, Program faculty,
and Program Chair
- Advise Chair on issues that directly affect the students
- Assist in planning and implementation of graduate recruiting
activities
- Assist in planning and implementation of professional development
activities
- Topical panels, student/faculty mixers, industry interactions
- Approximately one per term (3/yr)
Committee Responsibilities:
- The committee meets once per month to discuss issues - committee
and Program Chair meet twice per semester
- Provide annual report to Program Chair detailing activities
- Provide activity proposals to Program Chair (with budget, when
appropriate) well in advance of proposed activity
- Organize and maintain a graduate student web page
